Patrick Kane is one of the best American-born players of all time. Having collected an impressive amount of silverware both with his teams and individually, Kane has firmly established himself as one of the true greats of the modern era. But who does he consider to be the best American-born player ever?
Drafted first overall in the 2007 NHL Draft, Patrick Kane was a key part of the Chicago Blackhawks dynasty that captured three Stanley Cups in 2010, 2013, and 2015. After 16 seasons with the Blackhawks and a brief stint with the New York Rangers, Kane is now a veteran leader on a young and talented Detroit Red Wings team. Kane have started this season great, tallying five points in four games.

Patrick Kane names the best American player
With over 1,300 games and more than 1,300 points, Kane is widely regarded as one of the greatest American-born players in NHL history. But even he admits there’s stiff competition. When asked who he considers the best American-born player ever, Kane named five legends.
Leaves out huge names
In a TikTok video from Bleacher Report, Kane lists his picks:
“Chris Chelios, Mike Modano, Pat LaFontaine, Jeremy Roenick, and Auston Matthews,” he says in the clip.
Notably, Kane leaves out names like Brian Leetch, Mike Bossy, and Brett Hull.
