Mic’d-up Bo Horvat has the best reaction to hitting a bird

Bo Horvat had a great game on Tuesday, scoring two goals and adding one assist. The assist came immediately after he accidentally ran over a bird on the ice. And thanks to Horvat being mic’d up, his reaction to the bizarre incident was caught on audio.

The New York Islanders and the Pittsburgh Penguins are battling at the top of the Metropolitan Division as they fight to maintain their playoff positions. On Tuesday night, they faced off at UBS Arena, where the Islanders came out on top with a 5–4 overtime win courtesy of Horvat’s game-winning goal.

Horvat also opened the scoring for the Islanders in the first period and recorded an assist on Matthew Schaefer’s 2–1 goal, also in the first. But it was the moment before Schaefer’s goal that had fans laughing. A small bird had somehow found its way onto the ice, and as Horvat skated into the Penguins’ zone, he accidentally collided with it. Fortunately for fans, Horvat’s microphone picked up his immediate reaction.

Fans find it hilarious

His comments after the incident are now making the rounds online.
Returning to the bench after the goal, Horvat told teammates what had happened:
“There’s a bird in here—I ran into him. I ran into him behind the net. Poor guy,” Horvat said.Fans quickly chimed in on social media:
“Mic’d-up hockey is different,” one person wrote on X.
“Is that a penguin?” another joked.
“So you’re saying the Penguins have too many birds on the ice,” a third quipped.
