“I’m sick of Paul Maurice”: Analyst blasts Panthers coach

Paul Maurice is considered one of the best head coaches in the NHL, having led the Florida Panthers to three straight Stanley Cup Finals. He is also known for his quirky and often humorous quotes to the media. But now it appears that analyst Ryan Whitney has had enough of Maurice.

Maurice has been coaching in the NHL since the 1990s, when he took over the Hartford Whalers in 1996, and he currently ranks third all-time in regular-season wins among NHL coaches. Over the years, he has become popular with both players and the media—not only for his coaching acumen but also for his wit during interviews and his ability to get under opponents’ skin with his remarks.

”Sick and tired of Paul Maurice”

Former Edmonton Oilers defenceman Ryan Whitney, now best known for his podcast Spittin’ Chiclets, says he’s grown tired of Maurice:
“I’m sick and tired of Paul Maurice. Third all-time in NHL wins, a complete legendary coach in the game of hockey, and he gives press conferences that are entertaining. Maybe if the Oilers weren’t about to play him, I really wouldn’t care,” Whitney says on the podcast.
“But I’m dreading a Panthers win in Game 1, and then Maurice is up there with his monotone voice, making the reporters laugh and talking about how his team will shotgun a beer,” he adds.
Game one is played tonight, in Edmonton. You can watch the video below.
