Don Cherry’s prediction about Brad Marchand’s next team

Don Cherry has never been afraid to speak his mind, and on his podcast Don Cherry’s Grapevine, he still shares his opinions on everything surrounding the world of hockey. Most recently, he made a prediction about where Brad Marchand will play next season.

When the Florida Panthers traded for Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand on March 7, everyone knew they were getting a great player. With his pesty style of play, Marchand is especially useful come playoff time. But no one expected him to perform the way he has during this postseason. Scoring six goals in the final series, Marchand is now one win away from claiming his second Stanley Cup—14 years after winning his first with the Bruins back in 2011.

Brad Marchand’s next team

Brad Marchand is, however, in the final year of his contract, and although this season isn’t over yet, fans and analysts are speculating about where he could land next season. On his podcast Don Cherry’s Grapevine, the 91-year-old makes a prediction about where Marchand might play come October, according to Sportskeeda.

Don Cherry’s prediction

Don Cherry’s son, Tim, said he had heard that Marchand was close to signing an extension with the Bruins before he was traded, and then asked Don where he thinks Brad Marchand will play next season.
“Maybe they said (to Florida), ‘Listen, you’ll sign him for this year and we’ll sign him next year,’” Cherry says on the podcast, implying that Marchand will make a comeback with the Bruins next season.
Game 6 is scheduled for Tuesday in Florida.
