Brad Marchand scored 1000th point

But the result wasn’t the main talking point afterward. Instead, it was the fact that Brad Marchand became the 102nd player in NHL history to reach 1,000 points, collecting two assists on goals by Seth Jones and Eetu Luostarinen—the latter into an empty net with just 1:30 remaining. The milestone took Marchand 1,116 games, and he now has 435 goals and 565 assists in his career.
”I hoped it would be tonight—I had the family here. It was nice to do it at home, too. It doesn’t matter how it gets done; it was just fun to be a part of it. You don’t get to be a part of things like that very often,” Marchand told NHL.com afterward.

Special gift from Ovechkin

He also received a special gift from a special player. Outside the Panthers’ locker room, Alexander Ovechkin arrived to swap signed jerseys with Marchand—only the second time Ovechkin has ever exchanged jerseys with another player, with Evgeni Malkin being the first. During the swap, the two lined up for a photo, with Sergei Bobrovsky sneaking into the frame on Ovechkin’s right side.
