Brad Marchand hated this Panthers player before trade

Brad Marchand quickly became a good fit with the Florida Panthers after his trade from the Boston Bruins. His style of play meshes well with the intense, hard-hitting identity of the Panthers. But when Marchand was on the Bruins, he truly disliked one player—who is now one of his closest teammates.

Marchand’s trade from the Bruins to the Panthers shocked fans, especially since he was the Bruins’ captain and the Panthers are a division rival in the Atlantic Division. So far, the trade hasn’t paid off for the Bruins, but it’s been a huge win for the Panthers.

Goal scoring machine

Marchand has tallied 20 points in 20 playoff games, including six goals in five games in the Finals. The Panthers are now just one win away from securing their second consecutive Stanley Cup. Marchand previously won the Cup with the Bruins in 2011, defeating the Vancouver Canucks in seven games.

Brad Marchand’s most hated teammate

During his 16-year tenure with the Bruins, Marchand developed a fierce rivalry with the Panthers—and with some players who are now his teammates. In a recent interview, Marchand revealed which Panthers player he hated the most while playing in Boston: Aaron Ekblad.
“I gotta give it to Ekblad. I hated him. I just despised him—a lot. We would always kind of battle. But I love him now. He’s an awesome guy and an incredible teammate,” Marchand said.
Game Six will be played Tuesday night in Florida.
