World Cup of Hockey

The World Cup of Hockey is an international hockey tournament, featuring the best players from all over the world. Former winners include Wayne Gretzky, Martin Brodeur, Mario Lemieux, Joe Sakic and Joe Thornton.

History

At first, the tournament was called the Canada Cup and was played in 1976, 1981, 1984, 1987 and 1991. In 1996, the first World Cup of Hockey was played and has also been arranged 2004 and 2016. Canada has won the tournament five times. USA and Russia has one win each.

2028 tournament

In February 2028, the next tournament will be held in North America and in Europe. The 2028 tournament will run for twelve days and feature 17 games. It has not yet been announced which countries are to participate.
