Leon Draisaitl

Leon Draisaitl, born on October 27, 1995, in Cologne, plays professional hockey for the Edmonton Oilers in the NHL. Many regard him as one of the best players in the world.

Leon Draisaitl career

Leon’s father, Peter, played professional hockey in Germany and represented the German national team in three Olympics.

At 17, Leon moved to Canada to join the Prince Albert Raiders in the WHL. The Edmonton Oilers drafted him third overall in the 2014 NHL Draft.

Alongside Connor McDavid, who joined the Oilers in 2015, Draisaitl forms one of the best duos in modern NHL history. Many have compared the duo to the iconic 1980's Oilers duo of Wayne Gretzky and Jari Kurri.

In the 2019–2020 season, Draisaitl scored 110 points (43 goals and 67 assists) and won the Art Ross Trophy. He also led the league in assists and earned the Hart Trophy that same year.

During the 2024–2025 season, Draisaitl claimed the Maurice Richard Trophy after scoring 52 goals in 71 games.
