Tom Wilson’s Gordie Howe hat trick
The game also featured a Gordie Howe hat trick from Tom Wilson, which consists of a goal, an assist, and a fight. Although Olympic rules prohibit fighting, Wilson squared off with Pierre Crinon after Crinon delivered a hit on Nathan MacKinnon. Both players were ejected before any major punches were thrown.
Nathan MacKinnon’s hilarious reaction
When asked about the altercation, MacKinnon gave a humorous response. “He elbowed me in the face, and I was nowhere near the puck. Tom is a good teammate, and I definitely appreciate him sticking up for me. Yeah, that guy obviously didn’t want to fight Tom. He just wanted to wrestle. I wouldn’t want to fight Tom either,” MacKinnon told Sportsnet.
