Matthew Tkachuk’s chirping of Leon Draisaitl has gone viral — and now Canadian TV has fired back with a comeback video that has fans doubled over with laughter.
Leon Draisaitl and Matthew Tkachuk know each other well as long-time rivals. First, they clashed in the Battle of Alberta when Tkachuk played for the Calgary Flames. More recently, they’ve faced off in back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals — both of which ended with Draisaitl on the losing side.

Matthew Tkachuk chirped Leon Draisaitl
During Sunday’s Olympic matchup between Team USA and Team Germany, Tkachuk delivered a ruthless chirp toward Draisaitl.
“Always a bridesmaid, never a bride,” Tkachuk was heard shouting, referencing Draisaitl’s two consecutive Stanley Cup Final losses.
Now, CBC, Canada’s national public broadcaster, has added fuel to the fire. In a video now spreading quickly among hockey fans, CBC edited Tkachuk’s chirp together with footage from the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament — where Canada defeated the United States in overtime in the final.
Fans hilarious reaction
“Always a silver, never a gold, Matthew?” the caption reads, and Canadian fans can’t stop laughing at the shot.
“This is so satisfying. Lol,” one fan commented.
“‘Always a silver, never a gold, Matthew?’ I love CBC,” another wrote.
“Wow, a lot of people in their feelings with this one — guess it worked,” a third fan added, taking a jab at American fans frustrated by the post.
CBC has since taken the video down, but you can find it below.
