Brad Marchand and Mitch Marner rivalry
For many years, Marchand and Mitch Marner were rivals, with Marchand playing for the Boston Bruins and Marner for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Both Marchand and Marner have since been traded, to the Florida Panthers and the Vegas Golden Knights respectively. Now, they are teammates on a Team Canada that is headed to the Olympic semifinals after Marner’s overtime game-winning goal.
Speaking to NHL reporter Jackie Redmond shortly after the game ended, Marchand talked about Marner as if they had been teammates for years.
“Jackie, I’ve been saying for years that Mitch Marner is my favourite player. And it’s never been truer than today,” Marchand said.
Fans are laughing out loud
Fans can’t stop laughing at his brilliant response.
“Marchand going to take a broadcasting job when he’s done? He’s too funny to let retire out of the limelight,” one fan wrote.
“Hahahaha, the rat will always be himself,” another added.
“Haha, Marchy is the new spokesperson for Team Canada,” a third person chimed in.
