The Bruins can’t resist the urge to burn the Hurricanes following hilarious roast from Brad Marchand

The Boston Bruins’ preparations for the playoffs are well underway, and during the last week, coach Jim Montgomery has started to give his older players some well-earned rest.

The Bruins are breaking all kinds of records this season, and if they win six of their remaining nine games, they’ll be the winningest team of all time. Veteran center David Krejci was rested when the Bruins played in Buffalo last weekend.

On Sunday, he let three of his most important players sit out the game against the Carolina Hurricanes. Captain Patrice Bergeron, alternate captain Brad Marchand, and D-man Hampus Lindholm stayed home as the Bruins traveled to Carolina.

“Bergy, Marchy and Lindholm aren’t playing because of nagging injuries,” Montgomery said before Sunday’s game. “Bergy was also under the weather yesterday and got progressively worse during the game.”

But despite being without three of the most important players, the Bruins took another W home to Boston after an impressive contest against the Hurricanes. David Pastrnak became the first Bruin with a 50-goal season since 1993-94, and with the goal, he also reached 600th career points.

The Bruins won 4-3 after shootouts, and after the game, they couldn’t resist burning the Hurricanes.

When the Bruins posted the W photo on Twitter, they wrote: ”And we left the Lambo in the garage…”

It may not seem like a huge burn, but if you know the context, you know what it’s all about. During an interview last year, then Hurricane Vincent Trocheck was asked if he and Marchand’s game were similar.

Trocheck responded with, ’Are you calling me a rat?’ as an apparent jab at Marchand.

Brad Marchand responded that comparing him to Trocheck would be like comparing a Lambo to a Prius. And that’s the reason for Bruins’ hilarious tweet.

The Hurricanes response was also gold. As Trocheck has signed with the New York Rangers since the Lambo incident with Marchand, the Canes responded with: ”Tagging the @NYRangers so they’re aware.”
