On New Year’s Eve, Steven Stamkos became the 22nd player in NHL history to record 600 career goals. Last night, Stamkos was honored with a tribute video featuring kind words from both Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin.
Selected first overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2008, Steven Stamkos quickly became one of the most important players in franchise history. His tenure with the Lightning culminated in three consecutive Stanley Cup Final appearances, including back-to-back championships in 2020 and 2021.

Steven Stamkos scores 600 goals
After scoring 555 goals in 1,082 games with Tampa Bay, Steven Stamkos was traded to the Nashville Predators in the summer of 2024. Following a slow first season in Nashville, Stamkos has found his goal-scoring touch this year and is currently on pace for 34 goals in the 2025–26 season. On New Year’s Eve, he scored his 600th career goal, becoming just the 22nd player in NHL history to reach the milestone. Among active players, Stamkos now joins elite company alongside Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin.
Praised by Sidney Crosby
On Thursday, during the Predators’ first home game since Steven Stamkos reached the milestone, he was celebrated by the crowd and honored with a tribute video featuring praise from teammates and figures around the league. Among them were Crosby and Ovechkin.
