”Sid the Kid”
During his first seasons in the league, Crosby carried the nicknames “The Next One” and “Sid the Kid.” But as he established himself as one of the best players in the world, those nicknames faded a bit. Now, an old, forgotten nickname of Crosby’s has fans laughing.
Sidney Crosby’s forgotten nickname
The nickname is mentioned in a 2010 book by TSN broadcaster James Duthie called The Day I (Almost) Killed Two Gretzkys. In the book, there’s a chapter titled “10 Things You Didn’t Know About Sid the Kid.”
Number one on the list is the fact that Crosby was called “Creature” during his early years in the Pittsburgh Penguins locker room. The name stems from Crosby’s well-trained lower body.
”Would make J-Lo jealous”
“It is huge. Gigantic. Hugantic. His caboose would make J-Lo jealous. His thighs are bigger than my torso. All his pants have to be custom made. And the scary part is, his upper body is starting to catch up,” Duthie writes in the book, according to the Montreal Gazette.
On social media, the nickname has now resurfaced — and fans are loving it.
“There is nothing more hockey locker room than that,” one fan writes.
“This is crazy,” another says.
“Might be the best sentence I’ve ever read in my entire life,” a third adds.
