Butch Goring on NHL on TNT
For Tuesday’s broadcast, however, Bissonnette was sidelined and given the night off by NHL on TNT. Instead, they brought in four-time Stanley Cup champion Butch Goring, 76. Goring was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 1969 and played there until he was traded to the New York Islanders in 1980. There, Goring went on to win four consecutive Stanley Cups. For the Islanders’ 1981 Cup win, Goring was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy.
Paul Bissonnette chirp
On Tuesday, it was time for Goring’s first regular-season broadcast on NHL on TNT. And, of course, Paul Bissonnette wouldn’t be Paul Bissonnette without sending Goring a little message from the sideline. In a video now going viral among hockey fans, Bissonnette gave Goring some words of advice:
“Butchie, I see they’re taking it easy on you, old man. Scheduling you on a night when I have the night off. Would you look at that? I know you’re old, moldy, and grumpy,” Bissonnette said in his message.
Fans can’t stop laughing
Fans online are now cracking up over Bissonnette’s words.
“Love the banter. Butchie is the man,” one fan wrote on X.
“Haha, this is better than WWF wrestling—that’s right, I said WWF, not WWE. Biz sounds like Sgt. Slaughter or Big Boss Man,” another fan added.
“The dream team collab,” a third chimed in.
