Mikko Rantanen was ejected from the game late in the third period last night after a nasty hit on Alexander Romanov. After the hit, the Islanders head coach Patrick Roy was caught on a mic threatening Rantanen ahead of their next meeting.
The New York Islanders ended the Dallas Stars’ five-game winning streak with a 3–2 victory. It was the Islanders’ fifth win in six games, all of them on the road. However, the main talking point after the game was the dangerous hit from Stars forward Mikko Rantanen on Alexander Romanov late in the third period.

While skating toward the boards at high speed, Rantanen shoved Romanov, who crashed into the boards at full speed and needed help getting off the ice. Rantanen received a five-minute major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct.
As Rantanen was leaving the game, a mic caught a furious Patrick Roy yelling at him.
“You’re not gonna f*cking finish that game,” Roy was heard shouting, referencing the next meeting between the Islanders and Stars on March 26 in New York.
”Not part of our game”
Roy remained upset about the hit during the postgame interview.
“When you see the number, you have to lay off. Everybody knows that. You don’t go through the guy. To me, it’s disrespectful to our guys. That should not be part of our game,” he told reporters.
