Fan starts GoFundMe for Nylander but the result is not what he expected

With Nylander and the Maple Leafs discussing a potential contract, it’s clear the two camps are wanting different deals.

Now, with the help of GoFundMe, you as a fan can help make the difference in offering a contract to Nylander that he’ll sign.

The goal is to raise one million dollars to bridge the gap between what Nylander wants and what Toronto is looking to offer.

Thankfully, the ball has already started to roll. Michael Owen dropped $5 in the pot, doing his part to bring Nylander back to Toronto.

The project was created in September and has not gained much traction. Vadim Sh from Barrie, Ont states in his address that signing Nylander “Will greatly increase the chance of the Leafs winning the Stanley Cup.”

While that’s true, is it really the fans who should be coughing up the extra million to sign Nylander?

There is certainly traction for the page, as 585 people have shared across social media. Unfortunately for Vadim, the only contributor was 20 days ago.

Comments weren’t exactly supportive towards Nylander. One commenter said, “There is an extra $1M in the corners of the rink but unfortunately Willy will never find it.” A harsh critique from someone I believe will not be donating to the cause.

Another poster said that the Leafs don’t need another Joffrey Lupul on their hands.

Will you donate to the cause? I don’t know if the Leafs would actually be able to receive the money. If they do, I suspect they would donate to charity. Right now, Nylander’s page is a couple bucks short of their one million dollar goal.
