Eric Lindros, Mario Lemieux, Joe Sakic, Scott Niedermayer, Sidney Crosby and Chris Kelly. What do these six-men have in common? They have all been Captain of Team Canada for Ice Hockey at the Olympics.
It was reported earlier today that the 37-year-old veteran out of Toronto, Ontario will don the ‘C’ on his jersey come puck drop in PyeongChang.
This is the first-time Kelly will captain a team at the highest level, as his time spent in Ottawa was Captained by Daniel Alfredsson, and Zdeno Chara wore the ‘C’ in Boston.
Kelly currently plays for the Belleville Senators, the farm team for the Ottawa Senators. He has worn the ‘A’ in Boston and was the Captain of the 2001 London Knights in the OHL.
Canada kicks off their tournament against Switzerland on February 15th.
