Between 1992 and 2006, Darius Kasparaitis was a true physical menace in the NHL. Playing 863 games, he racked up 1 379 penalty minutes and 163 points. The Lithuanian born defender also won one Olympic gold with Russia during his career.

Training with Alexander Ovechkin

Now, he resides in Miami where he works as a real estate developer all over Florida. But he hasn’t stopped skating. During the 4 Nations break i February, he practiced with all-time goal scorer Alexander Ovechkin. Guesting the Cam & Strick podcast, Kasparaitis shared his memories from the training sessions.
“We did a couple training sessions. I killed them. He said that was too hard for him,” Kasparaitis jokingly explained.

Hilarious detail

”Physically, he’s a beast. He has a little belly now, but that’s okay, as long as he can score. Ovie also has a good sense of humor, he always likes to be challenged. It doesn’t matter if I’m 50 and he’s 40, he always makes fun of me if I cannot do certain things, you know, he trash talks like I used to do,” Kasparaitis said.
But he also let it slip that it wasn’t all practice.
”After we did off ice and on ice then Ovi said, ‘Can we stop at the gas station, I need a beer.’ I said, ‘That’s my boy!’” Kasparaitis said.
