Craig Berube has hilarious take on William Nylander

The Toronto Maple Leafs are having a great second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs so far. They are up 2-0 against the Florida Panthers, and their key players have really shown up—especially William Nylander, who scored a goal in their victory last night. Toronto head coach Craig Berube made reporters laugh when asked about his Swedish star…

William Nylander has really come out to play this postseason, tallying 13 points in eight games. He has been vital to the Leafs’ success so far, and only Mikko Rantanen has scored more points in this year’s playoffs.

Sam Bennett’s hit on Stolarz

However, most of the talk about the series so far has centered on the Panthers’ physical—and sometimes dirty—style of play against the Leafs’ stars. After seeing goaltender Anthony Stolarz leave on a stretcher following a hit from Sam Bennett, both experts and fans have called for Bennett to be suspended.

Craig Berube jokes about William Nylander

But after the Leafs’ second home win yesterday, head coach Craig Berube finally got to speak about something other than controversial hits. Reporters asked him what he had learned about William Nylander and his ability to stay calm during tense, high-pressure games. His answer made the room burst out in laughter.
“Just leave him alone,” Craig Berube said jokingly.
“Nothing gets to him. He doesn’t feel pressure. I could be wrong, but this is what I see. There is no stage too big for this guy—he thrives on this stuff and looks forward to it.”
Game three between the Maple Leafs and the Panthers will be played on Friday in Florida. You can watch the clip below.
