Brad Marchand moved by beautiful tribute from Bruins

Last night, Brad Marchand made his comeback at TD Garden after his trade to the Florida Panthers in March. His return was just as emotional as you could imagine, and during his tribute video, Marchand couldn’t hold back his tears.

After being drafted in the third round, 71st overall, in 2006, Brad Marchand made his Boston Bruins debut on October 21, 2009. On October 21, 2025, Marchand returned to TD Garden for the first time since being traded to the Florida Panthers in March.

Panthers broke their losing streak

The trade proved very successful for Marchand and the Panthers — he put up 20 points in 23 games as the Panthers won their second Stanley Cup in a row. For the Bruins, the trade has yet to pay off, and last night’s game ended 4–3 in favor of the Panthers, who broke their four-game road losing streak.

But most of the focus was, of course, on Brad Marchand’s return to the arena, team, and crowd he called home for 16 years. In the middle of the first period, the Bruins rolled out an amazing tribute video that showed highlights from Marchand’s years as a Bruin — the Stanley Cup win, goals, fights, and some off-ice shenanigans. After the puck dropped, the crowd chanted “Marchy, Marchy,” and Marchand couldn’t hold back.

”Couldn’t hold it in”

Stepping onto the ice, he touched his heart and waved to the crowd, visibly moved. In a postgame interview, he elaborated on what it meant to see his old crowd again:
“I was trying not to cry. And then, as soon as I saw my kids on the screen, it hit like a ton of bricks. Just the memories and the emotions of everything — the years and the incredible times. The amount of pride that I had, that I have, that I played here and was part of this organization. I just couldn’t hold it in. It meant a lot. I always loved playing here and loved putting the jersey on and wearing my heart on my sleeve. This is a hardworking city, and people appreciate that. I love the fans here. They’re special. They’re an incredible group,” Marchand told NHL.com afterward.
