The Toronto Maple Leafs picked up a much-needed win over the Florida Panthers last night. Before the game, Panthers forward Brad Marchand couldn’t help himself and took a dig at the opposing fans.
Both the Panthers and the Maple Leafs are hunting for a playoff spot in a very tight Eastern Conference. After last night’s 4–1 win by the Leafs, both teams sit at 47 points, placing them 10th and 11th in the standings.

Spoke to the media
Marchand, who signed an extension with the Florida Panthers this summer after helping them win their second consecutive Stanley Cup, spoke to the media ahead of the game. He admitted that his decision this offseason came down to signing with either Toronto or Florida.
“It was between Florida and Toronto where I was going to go. Toronto’s a great team, a great organization, but once the opportunity to sign in Florida came up, it was kind of no question that it’s where I wanted to be,” Marchand told reporters.
Brad Marchand takes jab at Maple Leafs fans
But being Brad Marchand, he couldn’t resist taking a jab at the Maple Leafs while he was at it.
“It’s unfortunate the fans ran Marner out of town. I mean, that’s a huge impact on their group. He’s a point-per-game player — that hurts,” Marchand said.
Fans couldn’t stop laughing at his comment.
“I can’t wait until Marchand has a job at Sportsnet or whatever American network has the hockey rights when he retires,” one fan wrote on X.
“What a beauty — love it,” another wrote.
“The ultimate troll,” a third added.
