NHL draft top prospect Gavin McKenna has been charged with multiple crimes following a bar fight — and now the jersey he wore in a game earlier that day is skyrocketing in an online auction.
McKenna, 18, is widely viewed as one of the most talented players of the past several years. Most analysts expect him to be selected first overall in the 2026 NHL Draft. He is currently playing for Penn State University, where he has recorded 32 points in 24 games this season.

Gavin McKenna charges dropped
On January 31, Penn State hosted an outdoor game in front of 74,575 spectators at Beaver Stadium. McKenna registered one goal and two assists in the matchup. Afterward, the team and their families went to a restaurant, where a fight broke out. McKenna was subsequently charged with aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault, and two counts of disorderly conduct related to harassment and fighting. He was released on $20,000 bail. The felony aggravated assault charge was later dropped, but McKenna still faces the remaining charges, according to ESPN.
Game-worn jersey skyrockets
The university is now auctioning off the team’s jerseys from the outdoor game, and McKenna’s jersey has quickly become the star item. It currently sits at $9,000 — far ahead of the second-highest bid of $2,200. Fans say the price has surged since news of the bar fight became public.
“I bet it gets to at least 20K!” one fan wrote.
“Gavin McKenna’s Penn State jersey is going to crush for years,” another added.
“Gavin McKenna jersey sales soar 1,000% after rockstar incident on Saturday night,” a third joked.
The auction ends on February 15.
