The Vegas Golden Knights lost their third consecutive home game against the New York Rangers Thursday.
The game was tied 1-1 after two periods, but Mika Zibanejad gave the Rangers a 2-1 lead with a power-play goal with 5:59 on the clock. Zibanejad scored his second power-play goal to cap off a four-goal stretch for the Rangers, who won the game 5-1.
But it wasn’t just goals or even hockey that caught the fans’ attention during the game. We also got a classic F-Bomb on live TV.
When the referee was announcing a slashing penalty for Vegas defenseman Shea Theodore to end the second period, he was approached by players who wanted to change the ref’s mind about it. However, the ref wasn’t having it, and while on the hot mic, he told the player to ”get the f’ck out of here.”
It’s not the first time a referee curse or drops the f-bomb on hot mic, but it’s still hilarious and always gets fans laughing.
On social media, many were also furious that a penalty was called in the first place.
The Rangers didn’t capitalize on the following man-advantage after Theodore’s penalty. At 5:28 of the third period, Theodore was called for another penalty, and that’s when Mika Zibanejad gave Rangers the lead. He scored off a pass from Artemi Panarin, and it was the Russian’s 600th NHL point.
The Vegas Golden Knights had 27 PIMs, and eventually, the Rangers got their power play going.
“Our power play got us going in the third and like I said, I just think it was a good solid game right through,” Rangers coach Gerrard Gallant said. “But you know those games when you play well, sometimes you lose them and that’s always in the back of your mind too.”
