Most players discover in their draft year that the gap between junior speed and pro speed is a canyon. England is going the other direction. At the 2026 Hlinka Gretzky Cup he was, by one account, the most noticeable player on the ice in every game he played — four goals and five points in five games, a Player of the Game award, and a gold medal.

THE ROAD TO THE 2027 DRAFT
England’s draft year is the 2026-27 WHL season, and he entered it with expectations that did not exist a year earlier.
He arrived at the 2026 Hlinka Gretzky Cup already viewed as a possible top-10 pick and left it having raised his stock — the tournament ended with an 8-1 Canadian win over the United States, and England had been Canada’s most visible forward throughout. He shared that roster with Landon DuPont, the top-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, and Maddox Schultz, the top-ranked name in 2028.
Brock England was born on August 22, 2009. He plays his NHL draft year at 17, and his late-August birthday makes him one of the youngest players in the 2027 class.
He is eligible for the 2027 NHL Entry Draft, scheduled for June 2027, and has been ranked inside the top 10 of the class.
He is from Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, and came up through the Red Deer Rebels U15 program before moving to Edge School in Calgary.
He won gold with Canada at the 2026 tournament, scoring four goals and five points in five games and earning Player of the Game honors. Canada beat the United States 8-1 in the final.
