Team Canada mocked after the Olympic final loss

Team Canada fell short against Team USA in the women’s hockey gold-medal game. Now, American fans are poking fun at a photo Canada posted afterward.

Both Canada and the United States were heavily favored to reach the women’s hockey final — and they lived up to expectations. Team Canada outscored its opponents 19–7 on the way to the championship game, while Team USA was even more dominant, posting a combined goal differential of 31–1.

Team Canada fell in overtime

The gold-medal game was tightly contested, but Team USA ultimately prevailed. After USA tied the game 1–1 late in the third period, Megan Keller scored the winning goal 4:07 into the overtime, securing gold for the Americans. Canada, the defending champions, were visibly devastated. Still, the team’s social-media staff attempted to keep spirits high — something American fans are now mocking.

Fans are mocking Canada

Following the loss, Team Canada posted a photo with the caption, “Silver shines just as bright.” Fans quickly seized on the wording to tease the team.
“Shining bright as silver — there, I fixed your caption,” one fan joked.
“The price of silver has skyrocketed, so you could always sell the second-place medal,” another commented.
“That sounds like something a little sister might say,” a third added.
The men’s semifinals will be played today: Canada vs. Finland at 10:40 a.m., and the United States vs. Slovakia at 3:10 p.m.
