The New Jersey Devils are a professional ice hockey team based in Newark, New Jersey, USA. They play their home games at the Prudential Center and compete in the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference in the NHL. Founded as the Kansas City Scouts in 1974, they have won three Stanley Cups.
In 1974, the NHL expanded with two teams, including one in Kansas City, Missouri. After two seasons, the franchise moved to Denver, becoming the Colorado Rockies. In 1982, they relocated to East Rutherford, New Jersey, adopting the name New Jersey Devils. The Devils remained in East Rutherford for 25 seasons, playing at the Brendan Byrne Arena. Since 2007, they have played at the Prudential Center in Newark. The team won its first Stanley Cup in 1995, its second in 2000, and its third in 2003.
