Team Canada and Team USA are the two favorites to win the Olympic tournament. However, recent footage of both teams has sparked criticism of Team USA.
Both teams won their three preliminary games convincingly. The U.S. defeated Latvia, Denmark, and Germany 5-1, 6-3, and 5-1, respectively. Canada beat Czechia, Switzerland, and France 5-0, 5-1, and 10-2.

Team USA slammed by fans
Heading into the quarterfinals, both teams are expected to reach at least the semifinals, with fans from both countries hoping for a gold medal matchup. However, off-ice footage has drawn backlash against Team USA.
The video shows both teams walking off the ice after a game. Canadian players are seen high-fiving fans in the stands, while almost no U.S. players acknowledge the crowd.
Fans are not having it
The clip has reignited the rivalry between the two countries as the Olympic playoffs approach. Online, fans are voicing their opinions about Team USA, sparking debates and strong reactions.
“Entitlement vs. passion?” one fan asks.
“Damn, I’m an American, and that’s messed up,” writes another.
“This is so on brand for Americans,” adds a third.
