Team Canada truly lived up to the hype in their Olympic opener against Team Czechia. They dominated the game to a 5–0 victory. On the 2–0 goal, Mitch Marner set up Mark Stone with a brilliant pass. Afterward, Sidney Crosby had a hilarious reaction to Marner’s slick assist.
Canada entered the Olympic hockey tournament with enormous expectations, as many anticipate them to bring home the gold medal thanks to their star-studded roster. Their performance against Czechia showed they were ready for the challenge.

Comfortable 5-0 win
The Canadians secured a comfortable win over a Czech team featuring stars such as David Pastrnak, Martin Necas and Radko Gudas. Nearly every Canadian superstar contributed offensively, with Connor McDavid leading the way with three assists. The 2–0 goal came from a crisp connection between Vegas Golden Knights teammates Marner and Stone, with Marner threading a delicate pass to set up the finish.

Beyond Stone, goals came from Macklin Celebrini, Bo Horvat, Nathan MacKinnon and Nick Suzuki.
Speaking to the media in between periods, captain Sidney Crosby — who recorded two assists — couldn’t resist taking a playful jab at Marner when asked about the gorgeous setup to Stone.
“I actually didn’t know he could land the sauce in a tight window like that,” Crosby joked.
Next up for Canada is a Friday showdown against Team Switzerland.
