Nick Suzuki takes a hilarious jab at Brad Marchand

Team Canada got through their Olympic opener with grace, with a 5-0 win over Team Czechia. The atmosphere on the Canadian bench was very jolly. So jolly that Nick Suzuki even took the time to chirp at his new best friend, Brad Marchand.

Team Canada entered the Olympic hockey tournament with one single goal: the gold medal. Moreover, their roster is filled to the brim with superstars. As a result, everyone expects them to win the tournament.

Team Canada goal scorers

Thursday’s game against Team Czechia was a promising one. Many of Canada’s key players contributed with goals or assists: Nathan MacKinnon, Sidney Crosby, Macklin Celebrini, Cale Makar, and Connor McDavid all registered points. Team Czechia is a strong team and played a solid game, but they ultimately came up short. By the end of the third period, the Canadian players were able to relax a little and could hear the famous “Olé Olé Olé” chant from the crowd in the stands.

Nick Suzuki chirped Brad Marchand

The chant is well known among Canadian fans, and Marchand—known for his years with the Boston Bruins and the Florida Panthers—has not always been popular over the years. Nick Suzuki then leaned over to Marchand and shouted that it must be nice, for once, to hear those chants cheering for him instead of against him, according to Habs Fanatics.
Next up for Team Canada is Team Switzerland on Friday afternoon.
