The Olympics in Milan and Cortina are fast approaching, now just three months away. Yesterday, Finland and Canada unveiled their jerseys for the upcoming Olympic hockey tournament. Fans, however, are furious with Team Canada’s new look.
Team Canada received widespread praise for their retro-style jerseys worn during the 4 Nations Tournament in February—a tournament they went on to win after a 3-2 overtime victory against the USA, with Connor McDavid scoring the game-winning goal.

Team Canada 2026 Olympic jerseys
Right now, fans around the world are eagerly awaiting their countries’ roster announcements for the first Olympic tournament to feature NHL players since 2014, when Canada defeated Sweden in the final. Until then, fans have been focusing on discussing the countries’ jerseys.
Yesterday, Canada revealed three versions of their jerseys: one with a white base and a red maple leaf, one with a red base and a white leaf, and one with a black base and a red leaf. The reaction has been swift—and overwhelmingly negative.
”Redo it”
On social media, fans didn’t hold back:
“How is it possible to make the jersey worse with each new edition?” one fan asks.
“Honest question: Is it too late to redo it?” another asks.
“Ah yes, my favorite color of the Canadian flag… black,” writes a third, sarcastically.
“Nearly identical to 2022 (when the men placed 6th). Zero thought or innovation,” says another.
“This literally looks like the result of a bad high school design contest,” writes someone else.
“When Team Canada lets Temu design their jerseys,” comments yet another.
The Olympic hockey tournament is set to begin on February 11th.
