Will Smith is one of the key players on a young and very talented San Jose Sharks roster. But despite his age, Smith can chirp like a veteran. Last night on NHL on TNT, he delivered a savage burn aimed at Paul Bissonnette.
Drafted fourth overall in 2023 by the Sharks, Smith has quickly become an important part of the team, which is the seventh-youngest in the league.

Will Smith points in 2025-2026
Smith currently ranks second in scoring for the Sharks, with 23 goals and 33 assists in 64 games. He trails only the outstanding Macklin Celebrini, who has 108 points. On Wednesday, the Sharks fell 5–2 to the Edmonton Oilers. The loss leaves San Jose three points shy of the final wild card spot in the Western Conference, with five games remaining.
“Just this time of year, you’ve got to play simple, direct hockey in the offensive zone, especially. We can’t seem to grasp that consistently enough right now,” Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky told NHL.com after the game.
Roasted Paul Bissonnette
The loss, however, didn’t stop Smith from taking a jab at Bissonnette on live TV. Although Bissonnette had the night off, Smith couldn’t resist when he joined the TNT panel. When asked about the team’s book club and what they were currently reading, Smith declined to reveal the title. The panel then joked about whether Bissonnette could finish the book—and that’s when Smith delivered the punchline:
“Can he read?” Will Smith said, sending the entire panel into laughter.
