Everyone involved in hockey wants to see the sport grow as much as possible — but we all have different ideas about how to make that happen. Matthew Tkachuk and Brady Tkachuk have now shared their own unique — and very Tkachuk-esque — take on how to do it.
Matthew Tkachuk is a key player and assistant captain for the Florida Panthers, a team that has won back-to-back Stanley Cups. His brother, Brady Tkachuk, serves as captain of the Ottawa Senators, a team looking to make a deep playoff run.

Both have earned reputations as true leaders and great ambassadors for the sport. Like everyone in professional hockey, the Tkachuk brothers want to grow the game and expand its fanbase. To that end, they recently launched a new podcast, Wingmen with Matthew and Brady Tkachuk, where the two talk about everything related to hockey — on and off the ice.
Calls for more goalie fights
In a clip that’s now going viral, the brothers discuss how to make hockey appeal to an even larger audience. Their solution? More goalie fights.
“I think goalie fights need to happen more often. The year when Fleury and Binnington were gonna fight — oh my god, I just wanted to see that so bad,” Matthew says.
“It’s about growing the game. People wanna see goalie fights,” Brady adds.
“I literally think people would come to games if there were more goalie fights. I think it would mean more season tickets,” Matthew concludes.
Problem solved!
