Fans furious

In overtime, right at the buzzer, a massive brawl erupted. During the fight, Trevor Zegras pulled off Noel Acciari’s helmet, and several players got involved — among them Sidney Crosby, who came off the bench to defend his teammates. Now, fans are saying that Crosby got off easy just because he’s Sidney Crosby.
According to The Athletic, Crosby will not face further punishment for coming off the bench. He received a game misconduct and was not allowed to participate in the shootout for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Calling out Sidney Crosby

However, many fans disagree, arguing that Crosby should face additional discipline.
“The game was not over. Still tied. Just special rules for 87. If it was a goon who entered the fracas, you know they’d get the games,” one fan wrote on X.
“He was told by the ref to stay at the blue line. He then chose to enter the altercation afterwards. Special rules for special people. We get it,” another added.
“So that rule is up for interpretation when it comes to Crosby? Because it used to never be up for interpretation,” a third fan wrote.
Next up, the Penguins will face the Minnesota Wild, while the Flyers take on the Nashville Predators.
