Buffalo Sabres loss to the Bruins

On Wednesday, however, they fell 4–3 in overtime to the Boston Bruins. The two points earned by the Bruins currently place them in the first Eastern Conference wild card spot. Still, most of the attention that night was on Rasmus Dahlin’s fiancée, Carolina Matovac.
This past summer, Carolina underwent a heart transplant and has remained in Sweden during her recovery. Despite her absence, Dahlin has continued to perform at an elite level and is on pace for 73 points this season, which would mark a career high.

Carolina Matovac recovery

Fortunately, Carolina Matovac has recovered enough to return to Buffalo, and on Wednesday, she was in the stands for the game against the Bruins—her first of the season. The Sabres’ arena announcer welcomed her back with truly heartwarming words.
“Welcome home, Carolina Matovac, the fiancée of our captain Rasmus Dahlin. She is back with us, attending her first game of the season. The Sabrehood loves you, Carolina.”
As the announcer spoke, the cameras zoomed in on Carolina in the stands and Dahlin on the ice.

Rasmus Dahlin’s reaction

Fans online were quick to praise the touching moment, and Rasmus Dahlin’s reaction.
“What an incredible moment! Carolina, welcome back to Buffalo — truly a fighter and an inspiration to so many. Stories like this show what real strength and perseverance look like,” one fan wrote on X.
“What happened over the summer is so incredibly scary. I’m so glad she’s okay and made it back to Buffalo. Buffalo loves you, Carolina!” another added.
“That’s bigger than hockey right there,” a third commented.
