Rookie Moritz Seider demolishes Michael Raffl with a hit that would have made Niklas Kronwall proud

This season, the Detroit Red Wings have been a positive surprise, with several young prospects stepping up and playing well. The young Swede Lucas Raymond lead all rookies in points, and on defense, 20-year-old Moritz Seider has been a key figure.

Last night he notched a power-play assist, and is now up to 13 points through his first 18 NHL games. Seider has produced six power-play assists and has taken over the quarterback role on the team’s first power-play unit.

Last night, the Red Wings took a loss against the Dallas Stars, but Seider still gave the Red Wings fans something to smile about, this time thanks to his physical play. He demolished Stars player Michael Raffl with a huge but clean hit. And fans on social media were loving it.

Seider’s been known for his offensive qualities and skating but has now proven that he can hand out hits that would have made even Niklas Kronwall proud.

“Forget the end to that game, watch Moritz Seider obliterate people on repeat instead,” the Winged Wheel Podcast writes on Twitter.

“Moritz Seider demolishes Michael Raffl. One of the nicest hits I’ve seen. Kronwall would be proud”, writes the podcast host Ryan Hana.
