Cale Makar injury update
The Avalanche boast a star-studded roster, but in Game 1, their superstar defenseman Cale Makar was missing from the lineup. The team has not revealed the nature of Makar’s injury, but head coach Jared Bednar told reporters that Makar is feeling “pretty good.” However, it is still unclear whether Makar will take the ice for Game 2.
The Avalanche went 8-1 in their first two playoff series and were considered favorites by many entering the Conference Final. But without one of their key players, the Avalanche could face a much tougher road ahead. Paul Bissonnette believes Makar’s absence could make or break the entire series. Speaking on the Spittin’ Chiclets podcast, he shared his honest take on the Avalanche’s chances without Cale Makar.
Paul Bissonnette shares brutal take
“If there’s no Makar this series, they’re done, first of all. The first couple of games of the playoffs, you could see Carter Hart finally finding his rhythm. He’s f*cking locked and loaded right now, he’s dialed in. So they got the goaltending. That back end — Hanifin, Andersson, McNabb — that’s a nice back end. They got a perfect balance of everything. All these guys you don’t really hear about, like Colton Sissons, all these role players they’ve got. They’re f*cking unbelievable. They got everything clicking, and their superstars are being superstars. So I think if there’s no Makar for the Avalanche, this could end in six games,” Bissonnette said on the podcast.
Game 2 will be played on Friday.
