Jaromir Jagr is probably the hockey player who has played the most professional games of all time. Having competed across five different decades all over the world, Jagr has seen it all—twice. But when he was asked about Connor McDavid, he had just seven words to say…
Jaromir Jagr is a living legend. At the age of 53, he’s still training harder than many players 20 or even 30 years younger than him. Currently, he is in Florida for the Stanley Cup Final. Although he has ties to the Panthers, where he played for two seasons, he doesn’t support either team more than the other.
Connor McDavid on Jaromir Jagr
After Game 4, Jaromir Jagr met with Connor McDavid and had a brief chat.
“I’ve gotten a chance to meet him a couple of times now. Obviously, a legend of the game. One of the greatest to ever do it. Cool to spend some time with him,” McDavid said afterward, according to Sportsnet.
But the admiration goes both ways.
Jagr’s seven word response
When asked about Connor McDavid, Jaromir Jagr had the following to say about the superstar:
“I respect the game he plays. It’s fun to watch. The way he plays, he sometimes makes very good players look silly. And it’s special. I always admire people who are greater than the rest of ’em. I believe in God. So, I can see the God in him. It’s something that’s great. I always appreciate it. Because it’s got to be something more than the rest of us,” Jagr told Sportsnet.
Game 5 is being played tonight in Florida.
