Few players are as synonymous with hockey as Jaromir Jagr. Debuting in professional hockey in the 1980s, he has played across five different decades. Currently, Jagr is in Florida for Game Six of the Stanley Cup Final. He has also hinted at his future plans.
Jaromir Jagr made his professional debut during the 1988–1989 season and was still active in the 2024–2025 season in Czechia. Over his remarkable five-decade career, Jagr has built a trophy collection that few can rival: two Stanley Cups, one Olympic gold medal, two World Championship titles, and a host of individual honors—including five Art Ross Trophies and one Hart Trophy.
Jaromir Jagr about retirement
Jagr played for eight different teams during his 24 seasons in the NHL before returning home to his club, Kladno, in Czechia, where he recorded 16 points in 39 games last season. In an interview with Sportsnet, Jagr shared his thoughts on this year’s Stanley Cup Final, expressing confidence in the Florida Panthers:
“They’re a complete team. The way I see it, they’ve got a lot of guys who can score goals. They proved it in the last two games. Three lines can score. And that fourth one, they’re doing a great job. I feel like they have more depth,” Jagr told Sportsnet.
As for his own future, Jagr hasn’t made a final decision—but he’s not ready to hang up the skates just yet:
“I think so. Hopefully, yeah,” Jagr said.
