The New York Rangers are struggling, and last night they lost at home to the Seattle Kraken. Now, captain J.T. Miller is under fire from fans for comments he made in his postgame interview.
To say the Rangers’ season is not going as planned would be an understatement. On Saturday, they lost 10–2 to the Boston Bruins, and while fans were hoping for a strong response at home against the Kraken last night, the Rangers once again came up short, losing 4–2.

Only five wins at home
With only five home wins, the Rangers currently sit 14th in the Eastern Conference. Last season, the team made major roster changes, trading away captain Jacob Trouba and Chris Kreider while acquiring J.T. Miller from the Vancouver Canucks. Miller was also named captain before the season began. These moves were expected to make the Rangers better, but the team has still been unable to find consistent success.
Fans are understandably disappointed, and after last night’s loss to Seattle, frustration has turned toward how the team—and especially its captain—is handling the situation. J.T. Miller, who began his NHL career with the Rangers, is now facing heavy criticism.
J.T. Miller under fire from fans
In the postgame interview, Miller seemed at a loss for words when asked whether there was a dip in energy after the first period.
“I don’t know. I’m sorry, I don’t know,” J.T. Miller responded in a resigned tone.
For many Rangers fans, that answer wasn’t good enough.
“Hope he demands a trade soon,” one fan wrote on X.
“Jesus Christ, dude. Wake me up when this nightmare is over,” another added.
“I hate to even be casually associated as a somewhat fan of the New York Rangers where this clown got to be captain,” a third wrote.
Next up, the Rangers will host the Ottawa Senators.
