Fans call out Mika Zibanejad over “zero passion” comment

Last night, the New York Rangers became the first team in NHL history to record three goalless home games to start a season. Afterwards, Mika Zibanejad commented on the situation but is now being called out by fans.

After losing their first game 3–0 at home to the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Rangers beat the Buffalo Sabres and the Penguins 4–0 and 6–1 on the road. But since returning to Madison Square Garden, they’ve remained goalless, losing 1–0 to the Washington Capitals and, last night, 2–0 against the Edmonton Oilers.

Hoping for a fresh start

The Rangers were hoping for a strong start to the season, with a new captain in J.T. Miller and plenty of young talent along with new coach Mike Sullivan, but so far they have not been able to score at home.
They have fired 30 or more shots in each of their last four games but have not been able to capitalize.

”Laugh or cry”

Mika Zibanejad, who underperformed for much of last season, has registered one goal and zero assists in his first five games this year. In a postgame interview, Zibanejad was asked about the Rangers’ new, unflattering record.
“I don’t know whether to laugh or cry, honestly. I honestly don’t know. We just gotta keep going,” Zibanejad told reporters.

Mika Zibanejad called out

Now, fans are calling Zibanejad out for his comments and demanding more from their star player.
“How about option C: score,” one fan wrote.
“Show some emotion — be pissed about a loss,” another added.
“Zero passion,” a third said.
The Rangers’ next game is against the Toronto Maple Leafs, in Toronto.
