Eric Lindros tries to downplay fighting in the NHL, but gives up after David Letterman’s epic rant

There were many things that made Eric Lindros such a great hockey player. He had vision and hand-eye coordination. He was fast on his skates and had a rocking shot. But it was his physique that stood out. Lindros loved to play the physical game, and he had the figure for it.

Lindros was massive and wasn’t scared of anybody. He flew into tackles, and sometimes, it was impossible to steal the puck from him.
Lindros also loved to fight and the physical battles with opponents. And no matter how much he tried to hide it, he just couldn’t. He loved it too much.

Back in 1997, Lindros was a guest on the Late Show with David Letterman, and the talk-show host tried his best to get Lindros talking about how much he loved the physical game.

Letterman first starts asking about all the violence and if most hockey players believe it’s a part of the game. Lindros tries to play it cool and not talk too much or say something he would regret.

During these days, the NHL went from having complete goons in the teams to have a slightly more friendly approach. During the interview, he denied being an enforcer.

But Lindros eventually couldn’t hold it in anymore.

Letterman said, ”There are guys in the league who just likes to do that stuff. Who just likes to drop the sticks, drop the gloves, and go nuts for a couple of minutes.”

”We’re in a bad rap here in the league,” Lindros first said.

But then, he couldn’t hold it in anymore.

”Yeah, you’re right. I can’t lie! I can’t lie!” he said, laughing.

Eric Lindros–what a legend!
