Dmitry Orlov has reporters in stitches with hilarious response

The Carolina Hurricanes took a 3-1 lead in their second-round series against the Washington Capitals last night after a 5-2 win. However, it was a 3-2 game well into the third period following a power play goal by Alexander Ovechkin. After the game, Hurricanes defenseman Dmitry Orlov made reporters laugh with a comment about the penalty he took.

Orlov is in his second season with the Carolina Hurricanes after spending 13 years with the Washington Capitals and a brief stint with the Boston Bruins. Now, he’s facing his former teammates in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and the Hurricanes have a chance to clinch the series Thursday night on the road.

Took a late penalty

The Hurricanes have been playing impressive hockey in this series against a Capitals team that had a tremendous regular season. But in last night’s game, the Capitals closed the gap in the third period with a power play goal that made it 3-2. The Hurricanes scored two late goals to secure the win, but when Dmitry Orlov took the penalty that led to Ovechkin’s goal, he admitted he was nervous.

In a postgame interview, he told reporters just how nervous he was.
“I was worried—I almost shit myself there, you know,” Orlov said, prompting loud laughter from the media scrum.
