Corey Perry Stanley Cup finals
A true veteran in his 21st NHL season, Corey Perry has mostly made headlines in recent years for losing Stanley Cup Finals. Since 2020, Perry has played in five Stanley Cup Finals and lost all of them: 2020 with the Dallas Stars, 2021 with the Montreal Canadiens, 2022 with the Tampa Bay Lightning, and 2024 and 2025 with the Edmonton Oilers. Starting the season with the Los Angeles Kings, Perry is now back with the Lightning in pursuit of his second Stanley Cup title, 19 years after winning his first with the Anaheim Ducks in 2007.
Went after Lane Hutson
The Tampa Bay Lightning lost 5–2 to the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday. The game was feisty and saw a total of 126 penalty minutes. To no one’s surprise, Corey Perry was involved. He only spent two minutes in the penalty box, but he did his best to get under the Canadiens’ skin, something he is now being mocked for online. During a scrum, Perry went after Lane Hutson. Hutson is 19 years younger than Perry and weighs almost 40 lbs less than him.
Mocked online
Fans are now calling out Perry, saying he was a coward for going after Hutson.
“Is that an old man assaulting a young kid? Jesus, Perry is old enough to be his grandfather. Get off the f*cking ice, Perry,” one fan wrote on X.
“Perry’s such a bully,” another one wrote.
“Typical Perry, finds the smallest non-fighter on the ice and tries to grab him, and at the end of it he shoves his stick blade in his face—could have taken his eye out. Such a gutless move,” a third one wrote.
