The Western Conference Final is underway. Last night, the Edmonton Oilers blew a 3-1 lead by conceding five unanswered goals to the Dallas Stars, led by their Finnish superstars. At the final buzzer, a scrum broke out with Lian Bichsel and Corey Perry at the center of it. Now, Perry’s little chirp afterward is making waves.
The Oilers came flying into Game 1 of the Western Conference Final against the Stars. After two periods of hockey, the visiting Oilers held a seemingly comfortable 3-1 lead. But early in the third period, the Stars scored three power-play goals and completely turned the game around, ultimately winning 6-3.
Final buzzer fight
As with all playoff games, last night’s matchup was physical, and when the final buzzer sounded, both teams got involved in a big scrum at center ice. Gloves were flying, and words not suitable for children were exchanged. In the middle of it all, 21-year-old Stars defenseman Lian Bichsel got into it with Oilers veteran Corey Perry.
Corey Perry called out
Bichsel didn’t really fight back and instead tried to protect his head from the punches—something that prompted Perry to mock him by putting his own arms around his head. Now, many fans are calling out Perry for going after the youngest player in the series and then mocking him.
“Corey Perry really let 21-year-old Lian Bichsel get under his skin,” one person wrote on X.
“40-year-old vs. 21-year-old,” another chimed in.
“That’s rich coming from Perry, a known turtle man,” a third added.
Game 2 will be played on Friday in Dallas. You can watch the video below.
