Brandon Bussi mocked after “embarrassing” moment

The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Boston Bruins in overtime on Tuesday, and Bruins fans are now calling out Hurricanes goaltender Brandon Bussi for embellishment, describing the situation as embarrassing.

The Hurricanes clinched the Metropolitan Division title on Tuesday after an overtime winner from Jaccob Slavin—his first goal of the season.

Bruins in a playoff spot

The result also means the Bruins must continue fighting to secure a playoff spot. They currently sit in the first wild card position in the Eastern Conference, four points ahead of the Ottawa Senators.
“We just totally lost control in that second period. But in the third, we wanted to play a certain way that at least gives us a chance. The guys responded well,” Boston Bruins head coach Marco Sturm told NHL.com after the game.

Brandon Bussi embellishment

However, what drew the most attention from Bruins fans was a moment involving Hurricanes goaltender Brandon Bussi. In the first period, a Bruins goal was disallowed due to goaltender interference by Mark Kastelic. On replay, viewers could see there was minimal contact between Kastelic and Bussi, who appeared to fall quite dramatically to the ice.

Fans are furious

Following the incident, Bruins fans on social media began mocking Bussi for the perceived embellishment.
“Bussi should have gotten two for poor acting,” one fan wrote on X.
“An acting job Al Pacino would be proud of,” another commented.
“Sniper in the rafters, apparently,” a third joked.
“I didn’t know Bussi played soccer,” another fan added.
“That’s embarrassing for the officials. That was such an obvious embellishment,” another user wrote about the situation.
