Brad Marchand’s hilarious take on playing with Sam Bennett

Brad Marchand’s move from the Boston Bruins to the Florida Panthers turned out to be a win for both the Panthers and Marchand, who each secured their second Stanley Cup last week. Marchand scored six goals in the finals and finished the playoffs with 20 points in 23 games. During the Stanley Cup parade in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday, he shared a hilarious take on joining the Panthers.

When the Florida Panthers traded for the Boston Bruins’ captain on March 7, many Panthers fans were thrilled. Florida knew Brad Marchand well — the Bruins had long been one of their biggest rivals in the Atlantic Division. Still, no one could have predicted the impact the 37-year-old would have.

Marchand’s pesky style of play fit perfectly with the Panthers’ aggressive identity. His six goals in the finals were pivotal in their 4–2 series victory over the Edmonton Oilers. After the win, Marchand got his first taste of how the Panthers celebrate a Stanley Cup — at the iconic Elbo Room in Fort Lauderdale. And on Sunday, during the team’s championship parade, Marchand gave a speech reflecting on his transition to the Panthers and singled out teammate Sam Bennett.

Brad Marchand chirps Sam Bennett

“This has been unbelievable. I never could have imagined being part of something so special. I’m so happy that I don’t have to play against these guys anymore, and I’m especially happy I don’t have to worry about getting knocked out by Benny anymore,” Marchand told the cheering crowd.
