Matthew Tkachuk’s postgame comments worry fans

The Florida Panthers suffered their fourth straight loss on Monday, and after the game, Matthew Tkachuk made remarks that have fans concerned.

Tkachuk has played six games this season after returning from an injury that sidelined him for the first 49 games of the 2025–2026 campaign. The Panthers have lost four of those six games, including Monday night’s 5–3 defeat to the Buffalo Sabres.

Sam Bennett and Aleksander Barkov injured

Florida’s lineup has been plagued by injuries all season, with key players such as captain Aleksander Barkov, Matthew Tkachuk, and Tomas Nosek all missing significant time. During Monday’s game, Sam Bennett also left with an injury and did not return. Bennett currently ranks third on the team in points.
Speaking to reporters after the loss, Tkachuk didn’t hold back.
“Honestly, they’re way more skilled than us. From an individual standpoint, skill-wise, they have us by a lot. It seems like somebody is getting injured every night. We are in trouble right now. If we don’t simplify our game, this year is going to get away from us. This could get away from us if we don’t figure it out,” Tkachuk said.

“I think it’s better to just rest and heal for next year. Nothing to be ashamed of—missing the playoffs happens,” another commented.
“It’s OK, boys. Rest up, relax, and get better for next season. You’ve got nothing to prove—just reset for next year,” a third fan added.
