Jacob Trouba gets revenge on Andreas Athanasiou with rare goal, followed by the most perfect chirp

Some weeks ago, Andreas Athanasiou was outrageous with New York Rangers’ captain Jacob Trouba. After a matchup between the Rangers and the Chicago Blackhawks, Athanasiou didn’t hold back one bit when he got asked about Jacob Trouba and an incident that occurred during the game.

Athanasiou skated with the puck at the Hawks’ blue line as Trouba hit him with full force, and Athanasiou was only lucky to get away without a severe injury.

Athanasiou played the rest of the game but was furious afterward.

“That guy is known for hitting high, not really worrying about the puck out there and almost trying to hurt people,” Athanasiou said about Trouba.

“That’s his game; that’s what he does. He’s an $8 million man with zero goals, so he has to figure out how to do something when making that much. If you can’t help the team, I guess you try to hurt guys on the other team.”

Trouba wasn’t called on a penalty for the hit and wasn’t fined for it afterward. The hit was therefore deemed as clean in the eyes of the NHL.

On Sunday, fans had their eyes on yet another contest between the Blackhawks and the Rangers. And on how, or if, Trouba would respond to Athanasiou.

And yeah, of course, he did. Trouba is known for being a great chirper, and everyone understood that if he got the opportunity, he would snap back at Athanasiou.

Trouba scored his 1st of the year on Saturday in a 6-3 Rangers sin over the Flyers. And when Rangers played the Blackhawks Sunday, Trouba yet again got on the scoresheet. And, of course, he had to take a shot against Athanasiou. After he scored, he turned to Athanasiou and asked him:”Hey, do you want the puck?”

That’s just ice-cold from Jacob Trouba and a perfect chirp. Revenge is a dish best served cold, right?
