France’s goaltender tried to chirp Sidney Crosby

Team France suffered a heavy 10-2 defeat against Team Canada on Sunday. France goaltender Julian Junca allowed a goal from Sidney Crosby—and couldn’t resist hilariously chirping Crosby after the game. Crosby’s response? Even better.

Canada dominated France in the final game of the preliminary round of the Olympic hockey tournament, with nine different goal scorers contributing to the 10-2 victory. Tom Wilson also managed to complete a Gordie Howe hat trick, despite the Olympic rules that forbid fighting.

Julian Junca allowed six goals

Next up, Canada will rest before facing the winner of the Czechia-Denmark qualifying game on Tuesday. France, meanwhile, will play Germany on Tuesday for a spot in the quarterfinals.
On Sunday, Julian Junca started in goal for France for the first two periods. He was pulled after allowing six goals on 33 shots. Not ideal numbers for the 28-year-old, who plays for Dukla Trencin in Slovakia and turned 28 on Sunday. But he didn’t seem too unhappy after the game.

Chirped Sidney Crosby

Instead, Junca appeared excited for the opportunity to play against superstars like Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, and Sidney Crosby. Crosby scored on Junca late in the second period, on an unlucky rebound for Junca. After the game, Junca tried to chirp Crosby but got an even better comeback.
“I told him the goal he scored wasn’t too nice. He said, ‘Yeah, bad luck.’ But it’s so nice to play against Canada, chat with them, and see how nice they are,” Junca told reporters.
